de Winton House

de Winton House

Boarding for girls in Year 9 to Year 13 ( age 13 to 18).

de Winton House is located at the centre of the school grounds and has extensive views of the sports fields and beautiful surrounding countryside. Following the school becoming co-educational in 1985, de Winton house was built as the first girls boarding house in 1987.

The house is now home to up to 40 girls from all over the world, who share a range of interests. The girls are incredibly supportive of one another and always get involved in house events and our ‘Spirit Days’ such as Sports Day, House Music, the House Speech and Drama Festival and many more!

de Winton has single bedrooms as well as small three-person dorm rooms. There is a communal prep room, a large cosy common room, shared modern kitchen and laundry room. The sixth form also have access to a quiet snug room to read or catch up with friends.

Meet the Houseparent

Mrs Mackridge is a member of the English faculty and Choreographer for all school productions. Before joining Christ College, Mrs Mackridge worked at the Royal Academy of Dance and often runs dance workshops (or even yoga sessions!) for the girls.

Mrs Macridge’s favourite book is: anything by Ian McEwan!

Mrs Mackridge’s favourite weekend activity is: a cosy coffee and walk along the canal in the winter, or a workout in the gym with the girls.

Best thing about being a houseparent? Being able to support and encourage all the girls in different ways and ultimately help them to become the best version of themselves.

“Within the walls of de Winton, we base our ethos on family values, we are respectful and accepting of all and do not pass judgement on anyone. We have empathy and endeavour: and most of all are polite and courteous.

Your daughter will we welcomed with open arms into our community and will be able to enjoy a wide range of evening and weekend activities such as Year group socials, with myself and my husband Harry, pamper nights, house quizzes and more! We will always be on hand to support your daughter and ensure she flourishes during her time at Christ College.”
