THIS YEAR, NETBALL HAS HAD A FANTASTIC BOOST WITH OVER 40 PLAYERS WANTING TO PLAY AT SENIOR LEVEL.
Christ College Netball teams have also been given a sponsorship provided by Flowers by Becca Jane from Brecon. We are extremely grateful to Becca for giving us this sponsorship as it has allowed the teams to enter many competitions and we have also been able to provide new team kit for the players.
This season, the 1st VII have been unbeaten with a shooting rate of 90% accuracy which is fantastic for the players. This season 372 goals have been scored which is the highest scoring rate in Christ College to date. The 2nds have only lost 2 matches this season, with a total of 197 goals scored. The 2nds have improved tremendously this season and have done extremely well in all aspects of netball thanks to Miss. N. Pettitt.
Back in February, the U19’s went to face Caereinion in the Regional Finals. The standard of play was excellent and demonstrated how passionate every player was during the 40 minutes played. Christ College showed patience and professionalism all the way through the match with excellent interception from C. Jones and K. de Winton, L. Price and A. Sinclair. Christ College shooters M. Davies and A. Gould dominated their presence in the circle with assistance from H. Thomas and J. Facey on the outer circle. With this, the final score saw Christ College progress through to the Welsh National Presidents Cup Final on March 24th, with a win of 24-19.
With a very early start Saturday morning, Christ College U19’s made their way to Coleg Cambria for the Welsh Netball Nationals competition to compete for the President’s Cup. We knew that we were up against the best teams in Wales and had to work very hard to maintain our point difference. With all matches being played at an incredible standard by all teams, Christ College gained a very respectable 5th place.
It was the first time in 5 years for Christ College to have a team enter into the senior groups National Finals, and they did very well throughout the tournament.
We would like to say a massive that you to Becca Jane for her sponsorship this year and I would personally like to thank each and every player that has worked hard this season.
