Top Tips From Actress Sheila Hancock For Sophia

ST NICHOLAS HOUSE PUPIL, SOPHIA FROM BRECON, SPENT THE DAY WITH ACTRESS SHEILA HANCOCK AT LONDON’S LYRIC THEATRE RECENTLY.

St Nicholas House Year 3 pupil, Sophia, who had great success last year reaching the final of the BBC Radio Two’s 500 Words story writing competition, has had more exciting times.

Sophia was asked by the BBC if she would participate in a short film to advertise creative methods of approaching story writing for this year’s competition. Last year the competition had over 120,000 entries and Sophia was one of the final 50 who enjoyed a live recording of the Chris Evans Breakfast Show amongst many celebrities at St James Palace, hosted by the Duchess of Cornwall.

Last Monday Sophia travelled to London to the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith where she spent the day with four other finalists in workshops led by actress Sheila Hancock. The workshops were on the theme of creating characters and Sophia discovered many new methods of bringing believable characters to life including studying photos and people watching in the streets of London. The competition is open again for this year and the short film will be available to watch shortly on the BBC’s website.

Well done Sophia – what an experience!
