The 1st XII girls travelled to the National Hockey Centre in Cardiff, on Tuesday 14th March, for the much anticipated U18 National Hockey final against Ysgol Bro Morgannwg.
Captained by Meg I and Floss D, the team put on an excellent display of hockey. A highlight of the first half was an unbelievable save by Val W. The girls were really unlucky later though, when a short corner came off the post.
Hannah O delighted the crowds in a thrilling run down the left wing as she crossed to Darcy D who scored top left to score the goal of the tournament.
Unfortunately after all the excitement , the final didn’t go our way with the final score CCB 1 : 2 Ysgol Bro Morgannwg resulting in a Runners Up position for our girls.
A big thank you to Annabelle S who delivered a very professional commentary of the match during the live stream . Thanks too to the enthusiastic Alway Supporters who arrived armed with flags and fully face painted to cheer on the team!
Head of Girls Games and Hockey Coach, Miss Hardman said : “I am very proud of the outstanding performance the girls put on today, especially as it is out of season. Well Done Girls!”
