The Archbishop Of Wales Welcomes Our New Chaplain

THE NEW ARCHBISHOP OF WALES THE MOST REV JOHN DAVIES VISITED CHRIST COLLEGE BRECON ON WEDNESDAY 11TH OCTOBER FOR A SERVICE OF WELCOME FOR THE NEW CHAPLAIN THE REV RICHARD ALLEN.

During the Service pupils and staff also gave Richard various items from the school Community, a school tie, a rugby shirt and a hockey stick.

Richard is married to Harriet who is also teaching at Christ College. They have three children Josh and identical twins Rosie and Jasmine. Richard was previously a chaplain at Millfield School in Somerset where he especially looked after the prep school aged children. He coached and taught rugby, football, hockey and cricket having had the privilege of starting off the playing careers of a number of international cricketers amongst other things. His wife Harriet also taught at Millfield along with being a games coach.

Prior to their stint in Somerset Richard was Rector of Christ Church, Exmouth a large growing family church. Richard has really enjoyed his first month at the College and comments as to it being a very kind and caring community with a group of very dedicated and committed teachers as well as very diligent and hardworking pupils who are trying hard to perfect their gifts and talents where they can enrich themselves in such a wonderful community. It is truly a privilege to come and serve here with an especially beautiful chapel.

On his first Saturday he had a double header of rugby refereeing the under 12 rugby team which was closely followed by the under 14`s. He commented ‘it was probably the bit I’ve enjoyed most of all although after two hours of running around I was pretty stiff the following morning’

We all welcome Richard and Harriet to the Christ College Family.
