LOCAL CHRIST COLLEGE PUPILS, JACK AND KITT, HAVE HAD A BUSY COUPLE OF MONTHS.
Both brothers have been competing in the Winter Tetrathlon series (shooting, swimming and cross country running) and qualified for the Pony Club National UK finals which were held in Milton Keynes earlier this month. There are 22 areas in the UK and two qualify from each area for each class. In the finals, Jack came second in the Senior boys’ category and Kitt came second in the Junior boys’!
The very exciting news for Kitt is that he has been selected to represent area 10 (Wales and Borders) in a junior tetrathlon competition at The Royal Windsor Horse Show in May.
There are eight regions in the UK, Wales and Borders being one of them and each region send a team of three – Kitt is thrilled to be in the team representing Wales at the show. There are only 24 junior tetrathletes selected from around the UK and it’s a huge honour.
Competitors can only compete once in the competition – Jack went two years ago and Kitt has had his sights set on it ever since. Kitt will be competing over two days both as an individual and in the Welsh team, shooting, swimming and running one day and riding around a course of show jumps (usually cross country) the next.
This year The Royal Windsor Horse Show is also celebrating the Queens 90th birthday.
Everyone is hoping her Majesty will attend the show on the Sunday, giving the competitors the opportunity to parade in the main arena in front of her but this is yet to be confirmed as its going to be a busier than normal year for her.
Whatever happens it will be a lovely experience for Kitt. Well done!
