On Saturday 3 February, we held our 3rd Spirit Day of the year at Christ College Brecon.
It began with the annual House Drill competition, Donaldson’s house led the way for each house to show their drills, judged by Capt. Andy Griffiths. We were all so impressed by the standard of both turn out and drill displayed by all houses, it was a testament to the hard work put in by the cadets following their practice in the weeks leading up to the competition.
Congratulations to School house, led by Rory who retain the trophy they won last year. Best squad leader was awarded to Samantha of deWinton house.
Next up was our senior basketball team who were playing against Cardiff 6th Form College, it was the final home game of the season for basketball at CCB and it produced a thrilling finish! After taking an early lead in the first quarter, Christ College then slipped behind and in the 4th quarter Cardiff started with a 24 point lead.
The final quarter produced an astonishing comeback with Donald scoring three – 3 point shots and Andy shooting two 3 pointers. Mason also began to dominate the boards and scored 2 shots from close range. The game was close in the last few minutes but unfortunately CCB’s comeback came a little too late and Cardiff 6th Form College won the game by 5 points with the final score 63 – 68.
A great game to end the home season. Our plans now focus on the regional U18 Basketball finals in Swansea on February 20th.
For the first of the Llandovery matches, a fantastic 2-0 win for our 1st XI girls in their match with strong performances from both teams. Then it was the boys turn, it was a close game for the boys but they kept the pressure on right up until the last minute and secured their 17-16 win.
Despite the damp weather, we were delighted to see so many supporters for our boys and girls at Christ College, thank you to all who came along.
