Speech And Drama Competition Goes Round The Houses

LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK SKILLS WERE AGAIN AT THE FORE AS THIS YEAR’S HOUSE COMPETITION CONTINUED ON FRIDAY WITH THE SPEECH AND DRAMA CONTEST.

Congratulations to all those who took part in this year’s House Speech and Drama Festival. The quality of the pieces were outstanding and the leadership and teamwork skills demonstrated were very impressive.

Particular congratulations to the following who received special awards from our adjudicator Ali Godfrey: Award for outstanding characterisation – Ted D for his exceptional monologue performance playing Lucky from Waiting for Godot.

The award for most innovative staging ideas – Alway House for their highly creative set piece performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.

The Award for outstanding emotional performance – Rhiannon B for her thoughtful and highly engaging portrayal of Christopher in the set piece.

The Award for outstanding performance in a comedic role – Patrick H for his engaging monologue from Up and Under by John Godber.

The award for outstanding performance by an ensemble – Donaldsons House for their exceptional physical theatre work on the set piece.

Very special congratulations must go to St David’s House who, led by their superlative Drama captain Jack Bell, not only were ranked first place across their four consistently excellent pieces but also demonstrated excellent organisation, teamwork and thoughtfulness. Very well done to all.
