Brecon Town Band in partnership with Theatr Brycheiniog and the Lumen Prize for Digital Art, have run an art illustration competition over the Summer which celebrates the artistic talents of Powys’s young people with the inaugural Promart Prize.
Students were asked to compose images to illustrate the music of the composer Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’. Our year 8 students (present year 9) entered the competition and we had two highly commended entries, done by James LC and Arabella G.
We also had many of our entries shortlisted including those by Owen P, Malvika P, Alex W, Jack T, Daniel M, Aimee T, Megan F, Owen P, Alice D, Arther E, Bunny BW, Hannah J, Jack G, John O, Lewis T, Tegan W, Tilly L and Ysabelle D.
Work of our shortlisted and highly commended pupils will be on display in the Andrew Lamont Gallery at Theatr Brycheiniog until 30th September and will be projected behind the band during their concert on 11th September at 7pm. Congratulations and well done to all our pupils.
