Principality Stadium – Senior Schools Cup Final

Dan Parry, Director of Rugby – Match report

Yesterday’s cup final loss was an unfortunate way to finish the season, our boys put in a strong second half performance to get back into the game. Although it came with the scoreboard just out of reach, I can’t underestimate how proud I am of every player that took the field yesterday.

I certainly felt that some of the decisions didn’t quite go our way  and the bounce of the ball certainly went in the opposition’s favour. I must take my hat off to Ystalyfera for a brilliant win, where they capitalised on our errors and punished us on a couple of occasions. But I cannot for one second look away from the hard work the boys put in to get back into the game and coming so close after trailing by 24 points at one point in the second half.

This may be a loss in some eyes, but I can assure you that in my eyes this is a massive win to get to the final and compete with a team who have  been to this final on numerous occasions is an outstanding achievement. Our year 13’s who will depart at the end of this academic year have started a legacy and we will strive to carry this on. We will be back next year looking to go that step further and claiming the trophy.
