Music Events Michaelmas Term

The Music School is becoming very busy with many pupils preparing for several key events this term.

The Music Award Holders’ Concert on Friday 4 October at 7.00pm is an early opportunity to hear performances from established award holders as well as some new pupils with musical talent.Refreshments will be served from 6.30pm.

Tickets for the House Singing Competition on Sunday 20 October at 7.00pm will go ‘live’ on Ticketsource on Monday 30 September at 9.00am. As in previous years, demand will be high and space is limited, so we restrict supply to 2 tickets per family, or 3 tickets if you have children in the school. There is no charge for this event, however, the Friends will be organising a retiring collection. The adjudicator this year will be Eilir Owen Griffiths, former Director of the Llangollen International Festival and Music Director of the Choir CF1, who have had much success in various music festivals around the UK.

The Saint Cecilia Concert on Friday 22 November at 7.00pm takes place in the beautiful St Mary’s Church in the heart of Brecon. The concert falls on the feast day of Saint Cecilia, the Patron Saint of Music. Expect performances from our many ensembles, including the String Orchestra, the Wind Sinfonias, the Percussion Ensembles and the Chamber Choir. Some of our senior musicians and award holders will also feature as soloists. Refreshments will be available from 6.30pm, as well as during the interval. Tickets are free, although a donation to St Mary’s Church at the end of the concert is encouraged.

Tickets for all events are available via Ticketsource – https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/christcollegebrecon.

Rehearsals for the senior school production of Scrooge, directed by Lucy Richards, are now well underway. Tickets are to go on sale soon, so watch this space…
