ON MONDAY 20TH MARCH THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT CAME TOGETHER TO SHOWCASE THE TALENTS OF THE SENIOR MUSICIANS AT CHRIST COLLEGE

On Monday 20th March the Music Department came together in the form of various senior ensembles to showcase much of the hard work that has taken place on a weekly basis since September.

Several of the visiting instrumental staff direct ensembles at Christ College, including the String Orchestra and Senior String Ensemble (directed by Tim Cronin), The Senior Wind Sinfonia and Senior Chamber Wind (directed by Clare Walker), the Guitar Group (directed by Jeremy Herbert), the Brass Ensemble (directed by Rob Johnston) and the Senior Percussion Ensemble (directed by Gareth Hamlin), and these groups were all on parade last Monday evening.Another chamber ensemble, directed by Assistant Organist Stephen Power, also performed, and the concert was rounded off by a performance given by the Chamber Choir, conducted by Jonathan Cooper, Director of Choral Music. In addition to these ensembles, the audience heard solo performances given by winners of the recent Instrumentalist of the Year and Singer of the Year competitions.

A concert that celebrates the achievements of our younger musicians in Years 10 and belowwill be held in the Summer Term on Monday 12th June and a further concert on the eve of Prize Day will focus on the work of our junior and senior orchestras.
