On Friday, pupils from the junior year groups in Christ College came together to perform in the annual Summer Concert.
With performances from the Junior Wind Sinfonia, Year 10 Guitar Ensemble, Brass Group, Violin Quartet, String Trio and a good number of accomplished solo performances, it was an evening not to be missed.
Our youngest performer, Sophie Williams from Yr 5 in St Nicholas House, played Prelude by Hummel on the piano and later on Come again, sweet love by J Dowland on the cello.
With the Junior Wind Sinfonia getting the audience into the swing of things with their performance of The Great Escape and Mamma Mia, the scene was set. This was followed by our Year 10 Guitar Ensemble consisting of Jess Facey, Jack Stephens and Leo Wong. The Brass Group were up next performing When she loved me by R Newman.
With instrumental and voice solo performances before and after the interval, the concert finished with a beautiful performance of Allegro from Sonata in G BWV 1027, J S Bach by our String Trio which consisted of Hannah Mathias (cello), Carys Cronin (viola) and Anastasia Yasyuchenya (violin).
The auditorium in Y Neuadd Goffa – The Memorial Hall was filled with applause from the appreciative audience as the performers received their congratulations. It’s safe to say that musical talent and enthusiasm abounds under the drive and leadership of Mr Jonathan Ling, Director of Music at Christ College. Well done all!
