On Thursday morning, new pupils from Year 9 to Year 12 attended their first Chapel service — a special Joiners’ Service to officially welcome them into the CCB community.
Mr Pearson opened the service with a few words about what it means to be a Breconian and the significance the Chapel holds for all who pass through its doors. At nearly 500 years old, the school has seen thousands of children sit where our pupils sit today — a powerful reminder of the legacy each new generation becomes part of.
As is a Christ College tradition, our Upper Sixth Leavers walk out of the Chapel for the final time and pass through the Powell Gates, becoming Old Breconians. But when pupils step into the Chapel for the very first time, they truly become a Christ College pupil.
Both current pupils and Old Breconians take pride in the values and behaviours that define our school. We strive to create a community where everyone feels a true sense of belonging. This community spirit has been a cornerstone of our school’s history — and remains so today.
A special thank you to Rev Rich Wooten, our sacristan, Katie, and to our Heads of School, Freddie and Hannah, for their thoughtful words and prayers during the service. We look forward to coming together again for our first full Chapel service next week — get your singing voices ready!
