Japan Exchange 2023-2024

Japan Exchange

One of CCB’s most cherished programmes is the Japan Exchange.  Now in its 14th year, the exchange sees four of our Lower Sixth pupils host four pupils from our sister school, Meikei High School in Tokyo for a fortnight here at CCB. Our pupils, together with a staff member then fly to Tokyo to immerse themselves in Japanese culture.  It is competitive to gain a place on this exchange, with letters of application and an interview to complete prior to the selection being made.

We hosted our Japanese guests for the last fortnight of the Michaelmas term.  It was a terrific time to entertain visitors at CCB, providing a great opportunity to show off all the community events that make life at our school so special.  The Carol Service, the House Christmas Dinners, the School Play, Spirit Day and many others showed us off at our best.  Trips to Cardiff and Bath added to this cultural experience. Our visitors loved their time at CCB.

Attention now turns to our visit to Tokyo in late February.  We will get the full immersion into the wonderful Japanese culture.  Tea Ceremonies, traditional meals in traditional Japanese houses, cycling to school with hundreds of other pupils, the temples and shrines in Tsukuba and the hustle and bustle of the megacity that is Tokyo.  It really is an experience that will live in the memory forever and all part of our desire to see CCB pupils become global citizens of the future.
