Exercise White Horse Beckons For Christ College Cadet

CHRIST COLLEGE CCF CADET TED HAS BEEN SELECTED FOR ONE OF THE TWELVE COVETED PLACES ON THE ROYAL CANADIAN ARMY CADET/UK ARMY CADET ANNUAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME.

Christ College Senior Cadet Ted, from near Llandovery, will be one of the chosen few heading off to the Yukon in Canada for a six-week Cadet Exchange Programme with the Royal Canadian Army Cadets.

Ted has done extremely well to be selected as there are only 36 cadets selected to go on the three courses from throughout the UK. Participants had to undergo a rigorous selection process within Wales, where Brigade Staff had to select their top cadets. Ted went through as the top cadet on their selection criteria. He then went to London where, over a weekend, he was put through a series of tasks, interviews and physical assessments to see who would make the final 12.

The long-running exchange programme has been in operation since 1972 and is the main way way in which Army Cadets contribute to International Defence Engagement between the UK and Canada.

The six-week course will be challenging and physically demanding at times and focus on the skills required to be an instructor and leaderships skills. Ted will be one of 12 UK Cadets integrated with 120 Canadian Cadets.

Well done Ted and we look forward to hearing all about his exciting six weeks in Canada.
