Christ College Brecon recently announced exciting plans to develop a new school in Malaysia. The Chair of Governors, Sir Paul Silk KCB, signed an agreement at the end of September with DBH Holdings of Malaysia whereby both parties will collaborate to identify and explore opportunities to establish a new school in Malaysia – a sister school to Christ College, designed in the image of the Brecon school.
With this project well underway, Mrs Emma Taylor, Head of Christ College Brecon is pleased to announce three new exciting roles at Christ College Brecon. Mr Simon Spencer has been appointed to the role of Project Coordinator Malaysia with effect from January 2016. Mr David Bush will become Deputy Head (Academic) and work alongside a new position of Deputy Head (Pastoral) which will replace Simon Spencer’s current responsibilities. This will be advertised and recruited ready for September 2016 and the Deputy Head (Pastoral) role will be covered internally until then. Both Mr Bush and the new Deputy Head (Pastoral) will sit on the school’s Senior Management Team alongside the Head and the Bursar. Mr Bush will act as the Head’s deputy in her absence.
There will be a further middle management position created for an Assistant Head (Welfare) who will take responsibility for welfare matters of pupils and staff.
Speaking earlier today, Mrs Taylor said, “I am pleased to announce that Simon Spencer has accepted a role as Project Coordinator Malaysia, heading up the planning associated with the our new overseas venture and working closely with DBH, our Malaysian partners. He will therefore be stepping down as Deputy Head in January to concentrate full time on the partnership.
Simon’s contribution as Deputy Head over the past 11 years has been immense, and his are very large shoes indeed to fill; however, we will be advertising for a new Deputy Head (Pastoral) for September 2016 and in the meantime will put internal cover in place to ensure that school routines continue to run as smoothly as we have been accustomed to on his watch.
Further communication will follow; for the moment congratulations to Simon on his new and exciting role as we take Christ College forward to the next stage of its development.”
Job descriptions and application details for the positions of Deputy Head (Pastoral) and Assistant Head (Welfare) are available from the Head’s PA, Mrs Jo Robinson-Davies.
