Christ College Celebrate Harvest

Boarders Harvest Festival

A group of boarders attended a Harvest Festival Service at Mr & Mrs Stephens Farm, Troedyrharn, Brecon last weekend.

Mrs Stephens is the Admissions Registrar at Christ College and Mr Stephens an Old Breconian (1977-1982)

A short service was held in the old stone barn where each House took part in the service . Rev Allen then spoke about the importance of sharing, fair trade and its relevance for British Farmers.

Following the service everyone tucked into Welsh Cheese and drinks before having a tour of the farm. We walked a couple of miles taking in the stunning views of the Brecon Beacons and saw a range of wildlife on the farm including Owls nesting.

Mr Stephens gave us a very interesting talk on the farm and its buildings and Sam Stephens (Old Breconian 2002 – 2009) then treated us to a fantastic sheepdog display with ‘Thomas’.

We hope to return in the Spring for a lambing service.

St Nicholas and Alway House

St Nicholas House combined with Alway for a wonderful service of Harvest Festival attended by many parents and friends. Pupils are attempting to build a tin mountain on the altar in St Nicholas Chapel for the Brecon Food Bank, which was presented to Mr Hugh Thomas.

St Nicholas shared two fantastic songs with us, dressed in vegetable outfits, including one which was sung in French. Cameron our gap student made a dynamic entry to the chapel dressed as a runner bean much to the amusement of us all!

Alway House took on the more serious role of leading our prayers and bringing a bible reading. Mr Trumper rounded off a memorable service for us all by leading us in prayer.

We shall look forward to welcoming our parents again to our annual St Nicholas service on the 6th of December.
