On Tuesday 2nd December staff and pupils from St Nicholas House had a wonderful time when parents, relatives and representatives of the Friends of Christ College Brecon came to watch the St Nicholas House Short Film competition. Pupils had been working in small groups to create a short film about Christ College using their school ipads.
Parents watched the ‘i-movies’ which were screened in full HD surround sound in our state-of-the-art Neuadd theatre. Representatives of the Friends watched and took time to make the terribly difficult decision on the winning film.
The films have been expertly made over the last few weeks, with each group giving a very professional introduction before each viewing. In the end, the winning team, Sam Mendez, Gwen Spielberg, Monty Ford-Coppola and Evie Tarantino picked up a book token each and our hearty congratulations on a very slick and entertaining promotional movie. The narration, content and graphics impressed our judges who in turn provided all groups with very useful feedback.
Whilst deliberations occurred, parents joined us in a glass of wine and nibbles and were able to browse our Christmas craft stalls where our J6 team were selling festive produce which junior pupils have been busy making over the last few days. This has been part of an enterprise project, again supported by the Friends who have provided a small budget per head to each pupil in order to make their Christmas crafts. Our J6 sellers did a fantastic job of selling the produce and they must have been very persuasive as nearly all the craft was sold and over a hundred raffle tickets were purchased!
The event was rounded off with a very poignant song ‘Real Love’ performed by the St Nicholas pupils around the Christmas tree. We all had a wonderful time and we are very grateful to all those who attended and also our Friends of Christ College judges Karin Mear and Cath Maggs for sponsoring the event and choosing the eventual winner.
