Brecon Foodbank Charity Art Auction 26th October
Brecon Food Bank is proving more and more to be an essential part of the community in Brecon and its surrounding area.
Last year they fed over 550 people – including nearly 400 adults and more than 150 children, an increase on previous years. Overall they passed on more than 6 metric tonnes of food, hygiene products and pet food. The stark fact is this: without our Food Bank a sizeable percentage of our population would go hungry and would also lose some or all their self-respect.
It’s only the generosity of the public that enables them to operate. All their food is donated – via collection points in shops, banks and cafés, by churches, and by individuals coming to the base in the St. John’s Centre. Without these gifts, they would have nothing to give.
Donations of food, however, are not all they need to operate. Running a Foodbank costs money too! Their Fundraising team has been working on the Art Auction project since January. It is the most ambitious fundraising venture they have undertaken in their five year existence. The money they raise will help fund extra projects they run to help thier clients, and also help them with core costs.
Please save the date in your diary and come and join us for what should be an enjoyable evening of live music, light refreshments and the opportunity to get that early Christmas gift while supporting a very worthy local cause. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there!
Tickets will be for sale from us at Brecon Food Festival and on the door. Please check our website for details and our on-line catalogue.
Happy bidding!
