Instrumentalist of the Year 2019

The annual search for the Christ College Instrumentalist of the Year took place on Monday 18th March. The Intermediate round in the afternoon was adjudicated by Tim Cronin and Jonathan Pilgrim, and the Advanced round in the evening was adjudicated by Simon Phillippo, Head of Keyboard Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.


Eleanor Williams (Year 10) won the Intermediate Round for her piano performance of Gymnopédie No 1 by Satie, and in the Advanced class, Simon Phillippo chose Megan Jones (Year 12) as the clear winner, for her performance on the harp of Fire Dance by Watkins.


The runner up in the Intermediate round was Peris Hernandez Panes (Year 9) for his 'cello performance of Pieta Signore by Stradella. In the Advanced round, Hannah Mathias (Year 13) was chosen as runner up for her 'cello performance of Tzig-Tzig by Squire.
