The eagerly awaited House Country competition lived up to expectation with some fantastic performances. The dry weather held and the firm ground underfoot allowed for a quick pace.
The boys and girls from year 9 through to 6th form ran hard and battled for those precious house points. The first race comprised the boys and girls in year 9 and 10 and the battle at the front for the title was fierce. Olivia O'Brien (SDA), Amelia Geordano (DeW) and Annabelle Green (DeW) were closely matched for most of the race but Olivia pulled away to secure the win.
In the year 9 and 10 boys race there was almost a photo finish with several of the places decided in the final 20 metres. However Jack Perrin (Orc) held off the challenge of Matthew Price (SDA) and Tom Mclean (Orc).
In the senior girls it was a Donaldson's who finished 1, 2, 3. Eventual winner Medi Lewis (Dons) held off the enthusiastic challenge of Lydia Drinkall (Dons) and Amelie Gauger (Dons) to secure the win.
No less exciting was the frantic competition in the Senior Boys. Strong finishes throughout the field couldn't hamper the effort of Patrick Howells (Orc) winning the crown ahead of Fergus Stevens (Orc) and Peter Price (SDA). An excellent set of races with the runners enjoying the course and the electric atmosphere. Well done all.
