Following previous success, the Christ College Juniors recently launched their pop-up cafés in a bid to raise money for two local charities.
Inspired by their Global Gourmet topic work and their study of Fair trade initiatives, the pupils built their businesses from scratch by seeking investment, budgeting, designing menus, conducting market research, advertising and of course, serving their customers on the day. Customers were spoilt for choice with a variety of delicious treats on offer.
Ba-Nana's Café, run by year 5 and 6, was predominantly banana themed with unique offerings such as banana curry sitting alongside the traditional banana split and refreshing banana milkshakes. Their take away delivery service was an added bonus and exclusive merchandise was available to order.
For all those chocolate lovers, year 3 and 4 opened the Chocolicious Café, where customers were spoilt for choice; fondue, cake pops, chocolate dipped strawberries and the legendary Unicorn Hot Chocolate!
The pupils' enthusiasm, dedication and hard work was supported so generously by all their customers and a total of £512.74 profit was raised, to be split between two local charities; Brecon Food Bank and Brecon Mountain Rescue.
