Helen Molyneux
Patron

Helen Molyneux is currently a non-executive director of EUI Ltd, Admiral UK Insurance business and Director at Captivate Gallery Ltd.  Helen is one of the founders of the Monumental Welsh Women project, responsible for creating the first public statues in Wales celebrating named Welsh Women.

A lawyer by training, Helen began her career at what is now Eversheds, before going it alone and setting up NewLaw Solicitors Ltd in 2004. Having grown the business to over 400 staff, Helen exited through a sale to Redde PLC, since then she has focussed on a non – executive career joining the boards of Hodge Bank in 2014 and EUI Ltd in 2017.

Helen is a member of the Women Angels of Wales Investment Syndicate, which aims to invest in women led, Welsh businesses. Helen was Chair of the Institute of Welsh Affairs and a member of the Silk Commission on Devolution in Wales.

Sir Andrew Large
Patron

Sir Andrew Large retired in 2006 as Deputy Governor of the Bank of England since which time he has advised central banks globally on financial stability issues.

His career has covered a wide range of senior positions in the world of global finance, both within the private and public sectors.

Prior to his time at the Bank of England. he served from 1992-1997 as Chairman of the UK’s supervisory authority, the Securities and Investments Board, which was the precursor of the FSA. Andrew also served as Deputy Chairman of Barclays group from 1998-2002, as well as acting as Chairman of Euroclear in Brussels.

In the earlier years, he spent twenty years in global capital markets including with Swiss Bank Corporation, serving as a non-Swiss on its Management Board from 1987-1989.

Andrew has a keen interest in education and was on the Board of INSEAD remaining on its advisory council. He was a Governor of Christ College Brecon, after retiring from the Wardenship of Winchester College. He collects ancient varieties of apple trees which he grows at his home in Talybont on Usk.

Sir Paul Silk
Patron

Sir Paul Silk was a pupil, a parent, and later a Governor at Christ College (Chair of Governors from 2015 to 2020). After school, he studied at Oxford and Princeton Universities before starting a career as a Clerk in the House of Commons.

From 2001 to 2007 he was Clerk to the National Assembly for Wales. Paul later chaired the Commission on Devolution Ito Wales from 2011 to 2014. He was appointed a Knight Commander of the Bath in 2015 for services to the Parliaments of, and devolution within, the UK.

Paul has advised more than thirty parliaments around the world, worked as Presidential Adviser in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and written and lectured on Parliament and the constitution.

He is an honorary Professor at Cardiff University, an honorary Fellow of Aberystwyth University, an honorary Doctor of the Open University and a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales. Paul is also a trustee looking after a number of charities, and chairs the independent panel that appoints the members of Welsh Water.

The title of Patron of Christ College Brecon is awarded by the school in recognition of significant contributions and valuable service to Christ College.
