I have been a pupil at Christ College since the Form 1 (Year 7) form so as you will expect I know the ropes well! But even for me, joining Lower Sixth was a big change. Speaking to my friends who came to school at the start of their Lower Sixth, I know that they felt extremely welcomed by the existing pupils. I know that those of you who have just joined the Lower Sixth, or are considering the Lower Sixth in 2010, will receive the same welcome.

Sixth Form Leadership Course
The Leadership Course at the beginning of your first Lower Sixth term is a great time, not just having the chance to go coasteering etc. but more importantly this is a time that you can get to know those people who are now in your year group. When you get back to school, obviously you will start on lessons and the academic aspects of school. Now is time to really get to know those people who are in your house, those in your year (but I think equally importantly) those in other years too.
I know that sport or music or any other particular activity won't suit everybody, but I would suggest that you get involved in as many things as possible in CCB; there are many different activities provided, from kayaking to extra chemistry or railway modelling to weights/fitness. All of these are easy to join and it is a simple way to start to know people with common interests.
The Sixth Form Centre is one place in school that is special to the Sixth Form and everyone who uses it should respect it. I know that when I was in the junior years, it was very special to go there for a party or for an event. Whether you are the sort of person who likes a flapjack and a cup of tea, or to read the papers or to enjoy a quiz night or a fancy dress party, the Centre is your place.
I have enjoyed every minute of my time in Christ College and I think it comes down to the relationships with the people around me, so I hope that those of you who have just joined us will have a good year, because believe it or not, IT WILL GO FAST! Make the most of it.
For those of you thinking of joining, please come and pay us a visit ... you'll receive a really warm welcome.
