Orchard House is the smallest of the three senior boys boarding houses, and is located on the edge of the school campus, a few minutes’ walk from the main classroom block, the Sports Hall, and Dining Halls. There are around 45 boys in the house, predominantly boarders, and the accommodation is an eclectic mix of ancient and modern.
In recent years refurbishments throughout the building have significantly improved the quality of life for all. The street frontage is a striking Georgian House, gifted to the school by a previous Housemaster. Behind the Housemaster’s accommodation is the unprepossessing exterior of the boarding house: an old tannery forms the larger dormitory and common room block, and more recent additions make up the study rooms and changing areas.
Perhaps surprisingly, the building serves excellently as a modern boarding house. The bulk of the Third and Fourth Form pupils are in dormitories and common rooms (around 7 in a dormitory and 9 in a common room); Fifth Formers share smaller study bedrooms (3 or 4 to a room); almost all Sixth Formers are in single study bedrooms, occasionally first year Sixth may share with day pupils. There are three kitchens in the house, the largest of which serves as the Sixth Form common room. There are recently refurbished shower and lavatory rooms throughout, a laundry room, and a ‘Quiet’ Room with a pool table and games!

| Mr & Mrs Copp and family |
The House is run by Mr & Mrs Copp who arrived in Brecon in the Summer of 2008. They are assisted by Assistant Houseparent Mr Colyn Andras There are three tutors Mr Noel Thomas, Mr Guy Hope and Mr Glynn Rogers, each of whom is responsible for tutoring a group of pupils within the House. Mrs Humphreys is the housekeeper, a position she had occupied for a number of years, whilst her team of ancillary staff also contribute to the good-humoured, purposeful nature of the House.
Orchard House is certainly a friendly and supportive environment in which to spend one's Christ College years. Boys are encouraged to pursue their interests to the full, to achieve as much as they can academically, and generally to find the best channels in the school for their talents.
