Singing stars at Christ College were the beneficiaries of a superb Singing Masterclass delivered by Andy Morton. Staff and pupils gathered in the Memorial Hall to witness Andy putting Jane Tomlins, Ellie Davies, Jesse Ashby and Josh Spencer through their paces.
Andy is one of this country's most versatile performers who constantly blurs the distinctions between music theatre and opera. He has sung leading roles at home and abroad in established opera repertoire, both as a baritone (The Count in The Marriage of Figaro, and Papageno in The Magic Flute) and as a tenor (Nemorino in L'Elisir d'Amor, Don Jose in Carmen, Paris in Belle Hélène, and Fenton in Falstaff ).
He is well known on the contemporary opera circuit and has performed regularly at Battersea Arts Centre in London and with the Paragon Ensemble, The Hebrides Ensemble and The Fibonacci Sequence in venues as diverse as the Royal Concert Halls in Glasgow, the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall. In musicals he has played Valjean in Les Misérables in the West End and Martin Guerre for Cameron Mackintosh Ltd, as well as being in the original casts of Boy George's West End hit, Taboo and Jerry Springer the Opera. He is also the voice of the current Cornetto ads on national commercial radio!
Andy was in Brecon performing in Die Fledermaus at the Theatr Brycheiniog.
