On 18th May the Chapel Choir visited Gloucester Cathedral to sing Evensong.
Skilfully accompanied by Mr. Meirion Wynn Jones, Brecon Cathedral's assistant organist, the choir sang Stanford's Evening Canticles in G major, featuring Holly Taylor and Joshua Spencer as soloists, along with his wonderful unaccompanied motet Beati quorum.
After a rehearsal in the cathedral there was just time for a quick snack before robing and processing to the south transept ready for the service. The responses were led by our resident cantor Joshua Spencer and Walford Davies' simple but beautiful setting of psalm 121 featured Anna John and Thomas Trumper as soloists.
It is hoped that cathedral visits such as this will become regular items on the Chapel Choir's annual calendar.
