A new school term brings a timely reminder of Christ College's achievements in 2009

As assessments for entry into Christ College in Sept 2010 are being finalised, the Christ College community received a timely reminder of the school's achievements in 2009.

Christ College has been placed in the Top 50 Independent UK Boarding Schools on the basis of its 2009 exam results as published by Best-Schools.co.uk.

Best.Schools.co.uk published the 2009 tables earlier this year as they have decided to wait several months to gather data which includes the first set of re-marks, as well as data from those schools which do not publish their exam results in August. They therefore maintain that their tables are the most accurate and comprehensive available.

Head, Emma Taylor, commented: "It is always encouraging to receive recognition from educational professionals of our teaching and of the pupils' academic achievements. These results are not just statistics; they are the key to open the door to universities and futures for young people, whose qualities and skills go way beyond what can be measured in an examination room. Examination results also represent a fitting reward for the exceptional work of the pupils themselves and of the talented and committed teaching staff at Christ College."

She added: "Excellent education is wider and deeper than what is measurable by examination results, but these qualifications are an indication that the quality of teaching, the facilities, the mentoring of pupils and the overall learning environment at Christ College are providing an appropriate ‘agar jelly' for the development of talent, intellectual curiosity and learning skills."
