On 7th May, cadets at Christ College Brecon were inspected by Rear Admiral (Ret) P Wilcox CB DSC as part of their bi-annual inspection by HM Armed Forces.
On a glorious May day, approximately 115 Cadets from Christ College CCF were on parade with all three service sections being involved. The event started at 12 noon with a formal parade and inspection. After the Guard of Honour had been inspected, the Rear Admiral proceeded to inspect the contingent, stopping to talk to several cadets.
After lunch with CCF staff and the Head, the inspection team moved to Llangorse Lake where they observed the Navy Section sailing.
The inspection team then returned to Christ College and visited the remainder of the cadets participating in various activities: .22 Shooting, Climbing, D of E, Tactics, First Aid, RAF classroom exercise and command tasks. The event drew to a close with a formal dinner in the school Dining Hall, attended by the inspecting officer, CCF Staff and 6th form cadets.
Rear Admiral Wilcox said that the inspection had been "a resounding success." Head of Christ College Emma Taylor said: "Every two years, the Armed Forces inspect the troops at Christ College as a routine occurance. To have had such high ranking figures such as Air Chief Marshall Sir Clive Loader in 2007 and Rear Admiral Wilcox in 2009 is however a tremendous honour for Christ College."
