Chairman of WDA Opens New IT Suite

Christ College welcomed Roger Jones, Chairman of the Welsh Development Agency to open the school’s new Information Technology Centre. The new Centre will be known as the Maynard Jenour IT Centre to commemorate a former Governor and generous benefactor to the School. The new teaching facility, funded by a combination of parental contributions, the Society of Friends for Christ College and School Governors provides the latest in ICT teaching hardware for staff and a second facility for pupils to refine their communication skills. The room is networked with the second IT resource/research facility which forms part of the School Library and doubles the number of IT stations available to pupils.

Construction work was done by the school’s Works Department led by Clerk of Works, Gary Davies, and involved knocking two classrooms into one. The installation of hardware was done by John Edwards, Christ College’s IT Systems Manager.

The Chairman of the WDA said that technology competence was essential in building the skills base so imperative for the future economic prosperity of Wales.
