Cambrian Patrol 2003

Once again, Christ College CCF came home with the silverware by fending off some stiff opposition to become overall CCF Champions. This year’s event was based at Penhally Training Camp, near Tenby on the West Wales coast, with the marching and testing phase on Saturday taking place in the Presili Hills.

The Senior and Junior teams were ably led by WO1 Bryn Reeves and Sgt David Morrell respectively, and had to contend with starting places that presented them with the worst of the cloudy conditions on the hill section that tested their navigational skills to the full. Both teams did well on the various tests of field craft.

The start of the run and shoot phase on Sunday was delayed due to poor visibility at the ranges, but posed no problems to our teams who posted excellent times and scores.

When the results were announced and the presentations made, our Junior Team came away with the Silver whilst the Seniors gained Bronze. However, as a result of the superb team effort by all the cadets, the combined results over the two days meant that they saw off the opposition in some style to take the Western Mail Trophy for the best overall CCF Contingent.

Congratulations must go to all the cadets involved, not only for the result, but for the enthusiasm, humour, commitment and sheer physical effort that they all displayed during the event.
