Sport & Activity for All

physical recreation is an integral part of life in St Nicholas House.

Your child will have the opportunity to participate in curricular PE lessons each week, as well as being able to enjoy the superb sports grounds and facilities at Christ College, and benefit from coaching by our qualified and experienced staff too.

After school clubs will also provide your child with a diversity of sports and activities. Teamwork and individual excellence is developed on the sports field; with a range of sports such as Rugby, Hockey, Cricket, Netball, Rounders and Tennis on offer to our pupils. Pupils are able to develop their skills in Gymnastics, Swimming, Dance and Athletics too.  Our Daily K programme encourages regular physical exercise whilst improving health, fitness and wellbeing.

Your child will have the opportunity to compete in Inter-House competitions as well as taking part in some sporting fixtures against other local schools.

St Nicholas House offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities that complements the academic and sporting curriculum.

These clubs are offered, with the exception of some specialist clubs* where a charge will to be made for external tuition, as part of the normal school fees. The majority of these clubs take place after school and some during lunchtimes. Your child will be encouraged to apply for clubs and activities that suit them best.

Clubs run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Mondays and Thursdays, all St Nicholas pupils receive Games tuition during their dedicated ‘clubs’ session, coached by our qualified and experienced sports staff. This activity is compulsory and will incorporate regular fixtures against other schools within its programme.

All St Nicholas House children are encouraged to attend at least one after-school club of their choice. We will generally encourage children, who have signed up to clubs, to honour their choices until the end of that term, hence encouraging perseverance and commitment.

We constantly look to create a wide ranging schedule of activities and will introduce new clubs to offer variety and in keeping with the weather and the changing seasons, not to mention consulting with pupils themselves.

We are very keen to run some of the following clubs:
  • Chess
  • Ballet*
  • iPad Club
  • Pop Lacrosse
  • Cooking Club
  • Construction Club
  • Debating
  • Art & Craft
  • Cross-Country
  • Board Games
  • Parachute Games
  • Karaoke
  • Choir
  • Speech & Drama (LAMDA)*
  • and many more!

We will endeavour to offer as diverse a choice as possible and to encourage a balance of activities for each child.
