FAQs

We have listed some common questions that have been raised by parents since the announcement of our plans to open St Nicholas House. it is always helpful to know what parents are seeking from an independent Junior School and we hope we have been able to answer as many of those questions as possible.

Many more questions will be answerable as the key milestones are reached and St Nichoas House routines are established. However we do hope that parents do not feel it necessary to have to wait for those days and we invite any parent with any question, however small and insignificant it may seem, to get in touch and we will do our very best to help out.

How much involvement can parents have? Christ College is a caring and open environment and we strongly believe that it is good for our pupils to see the teaching staff and their parents working closely together and supporting each other for their mutual benefit. The Society of Friends of Christ College is integral to this partnership, as is the open-door policy we operate.

Whilst in Year J6, an opportunity will exist for your child to be assessed for Scholarships ahead of entry into Year L7.

Parents with questions about planning for school fees are encouraged to come in and have a discussion with the Head about the range of options available.

What about the uniform? The new junior uniform is available for viewing on visits to the school and will soon become actively on offer as part of the school uniform suppliers, Schoolblazer. Examples of the uniform are also on display in our main reception.

Is there transport provision? Christ College provides a daily transport service and details of this can be found by clicking here.

What happens next? Some of the key milestones on our journey include:

  • On 7th June 2014 there was a second Entry Day for pupils wishing to join St Nicholas House in September 2014;
  • Throughout the Summer Term we had a series of social events and Open Events so that everyone could see the progress being made at St Nicholas House, as well as giving us all a chance to get to know one another!
  • By the beginning of August we had completed the major work on the premises and installed all of the equipment for the Junior School.
  • On 3rd September 2014 St Nicholas House opened!

If you still have any questions about St Nicholas House, we'd be delighted to hear from you. Please do not hesitate to come in and talk to us about any matters that may be on your mind.
