Hockey

Led by Dr Dominic Phelps and our Professional Hockey Coach, Chris Marriott, Christ College's recent tradition of high achievement in Hockey is set to continue in the future. CCB regularly fields teams in all age groups in both Girls' and Boys' Hockey in the Michaelmas and Lent terms respectively, with a highly competitive fixture list against some of the best schools in Wales and the border counties.

Both Girls' and Boys' teams have achieved considerable success over the last 10 years.  In Girls Hockey our U16 and U18 girls are current reigning Welsh National Champions, with the latter unbeaten in 25 competitive games.  Since 2012 a Christ College girls team in at least 2 of the 3 major year groups (U14, U16 and U18) has reached the National semi-finals or better every single year.  Boys Hockey is also strong, with 7 National Titles since 2014 and runners-up medals for both the U18s and U14 in 2017.  In total, over the last 8 years the school has experienced a phenomenal level of success, winning no less than 58 major titles, 12 of which have been Welsh National Championships.

Many Christ College players are currently in the Hockey Wales 360 Talent Development programme, with CCB hosting the Brecon centre since 2014.  The strongest individuals have then gone on to NAGS and Welsh national representation, with many subsequently going in to quality university 1st XI teams when they graduate.  In 2016-17 alone Christ College had 6 players in the Wales U18s/U16's squads, featuring in the Futures Cup and various other international matches, as well as our very own Mr Marriott, who has coached the Wales U16s since 2016.
