Young people now have greater choice about the
subjects they study, where they study, and the
qualifications they aim for. They need to be in a
position to make informed choices, based on
effective careers advice, education and guidance.
It is the aim of the Careers Department, by
providing effective careers education and guidance,
to help them make these choices.
CAREERS ADVICE
Pupils in the L6th have an interview with Careers
Wales and/or ISCO representative. The Royal Navy,
Army, and Royal Air Force liaison officers come each
term, interview interested pupils and provide
careers guidance on their service.

U6
UCAS applications are made early in the Michaelmas
Term of the Upper Sixth, either for entry
immediately after school or for deferred entry after
a GAP year. Interviews and open days are held in the
autumn and spring and each university will make
offers conditional upon A-level results. Particular
degree course subjects will often require specific
subjects to be taken at A-level and so future
choices will be affected by the decisions made at
this stage.
